1969 Jaguar E Type 4.2 Series II FHC
First registered in New York in 1969 and re-imported back to the UK in back in 2013. The condition of the car baack then can only be described as challenging and required the skills of a very optimistic but well qualified engineer in order to consider such a project. Fortunately the buyer at the time at spent many years working for the military as a marine engineer and he was not phased by the emormity of what he decided to take on. This car is now more than 90% finished and within the methodically kept restoration file are invoices for well over £100,000 for parts purchased. If one added to this the cost of time spent in carrying out the restoration, the total stand-in cost so far would be likely to be in excess of £200,000. Since acquiring the car, after careful checking we have been able to fire the engine into life which is holding excellent oil pressure and not suffering fom the common timing chain rattle. The suspension which has all been replaced during the rebuild has now been set to the correct ride height and may only require any further adjustment once a lengthy road test has been completed. If I have sparked an interest with my brief description, coupled with the pictures above, please feel free to make an appointment to come and inspect the car on our ramp, when you will find that there is not a lot left to do to finish this E type project to a very fine standard.
