Description

1953 Jaguar XK120 FHC

1953 Jaguar XK120 Fixed Head Coupe, an original, UK supplied right hand drive, finished in Burgundy with contrasting tan hide interior. This rather special motor car has been rebuilt over time incorporating various modifications and upgrades which have gone towards making it a more useable example in modern day traffic conditions. When originally purchased by the present enthusiast owner, it was in need of refurbishment and not having its original engine, the somewhat tired 3.4 engine was replaced. It now has a fully rebuilt Solid Block 4.2 as used on an E type with a straight port cylinder head and "C" type cam covers, coupled with twin HD8 SU carburettors, with the correct XK120 sump and oil filter, making it identical in appearance to a standard XK120. It also has the advantage of a Jaguar 5-speed gearbox and the original 3.54 rear axle making it excellent for motorway cruising. The exhaust system is all of stainless steel including the 6 branch full flow manifolds. In addition, it is fitted with Jaguar electronic ignition and an aluminium radiator together with a high capacity race water pump for improved cooling. Further modifications include front disc brakes with Coopercraft callipers and a Guy Broad pedal box for greatly improved braking and hydraulic clutch operation, which also gives extended leg room. This car will appeal to a discerning driver who will instantly appreciate the upgrades and the excellent way in which this car drives. NOT expensive at £84,500
