Description

1957 Jaguar XK140 Roadster

1957 Jaguar XK140 Roadster (OTS) finished in its original colour scheme of Old English White with an original two-tone interior of Red and Biscuit. Only 72 RHD cars were built but many more were exported to the USA. This stunning example, chassis No. S813183 is one of the last few XK140’s to be built and was dispatched to Jaguar Cars, New York on the 29th of January 1957 and little is known about its early life in the USA. It was then correctly reimported back to the UK with a NOVA reference number in June 2015. Since arriving back in the UK, a program of restoration was embarked upon by the new owner in 2016 which has been carried out to an unbelievably high standard. This now superb example has had the benefit of the old body having been removed from the chassis and a completely new correctly fabricated body fitted, (see photos).

The bare chassis which was completely free of corrosion was repainted with 2 coats of chassis paint, prior to the new body being professionally fitted. The body was subsequently repainted in original Old English White. During the restoration, the original engine has been totally overhauled including a re-bore and now using new 9-1 high compression pistons, new upgraded rear main oil seal, new high-capacity oil pump, new timing chains, sprockets, slippers and tensioners and all new bearings. The cylinder head was also rebuilt using new valves, guides and tappets. Other items replaced during the process were an aluminium sump, a new high torque lightweight starter motor, a re-cored coolant radiator and new water pump, an alternator and a new stainless steel exhaust system.

If all of the above sounds appealing, we will be happy to go into more detail regarding the extensive work carried out to the suspension, brakes, steering, chrome work, trim and weather equipment. The restoration was completed in August 2018 and the DVLA have kindly issued a Coventry registration number of XVC 411.

The car will come with a detailed history file which includes all of the restoration invoices, a Jaguar Heritage certificate confirming that the car retains its original engine and the DVLA V5 Registration document.

Undoubtedly one of the best XK140’s available today and sensibly priced for one in this condition at £89,950
