Description

1968 MG CGT Automatic

1968 MG “C” GT with Automatic transmission, Factory Press Car and as such an important part of MG history.

Originally registered as a sales demonstrator to BMC Press department, Longbridge, evidence of which remains in the accompanying car file.

The car has featured in the 1968 Autocar Road Test, a copy of which accompanies the car. Finished in a rare and vibrant metallic blue with black hide interior and in the same colour as the then Prince Charles’s own MGC GT.

This car has been the subject of an older restoration with photographic evidence in the car file and is now fitted with various upgrades to improve the handling and driveability of a 60’s sports car. These include Adjustable Electric Power assisted steering, Polybushed suspension, Spax front shock absorbers, Pertronix ignition, High-capacity water radiator and water pump for improved cooling, new fuel tank, rebuilt carburettors, Upgraded brake pads, correct period radio but with auxiliary lead, spin-on oil filter, and a correct Lucas distributor cap and rotor arm. The car sits on the optional 15” wire wheels and the history file shows the extent of the comprehensive body and engine restoration and includes numerous invoices for the improvements. Very likely to increase in Value and offered at £25,750.
